Clayton “Darrell” Thompson, 79, of Hernando, FL went to be with the Lord on October 29, 2018 at his home. He was born in Lawrence County, KY on April 18, 1939 to Homer and Pauline (Holbrook) Thompson. He was predeceased by daughter Crystal L. Thompson.

Darrell moved to Hernando in 1992, from Columbus, OH where he and his wife Linda owned and operated their own trucking company. Together, their travels took them to all 48 states as truck drivers. Their love for the open road did not end with their job. Darrell and Linda enjoyed many miles together of riding motorcycles, airboats, and visiting all 50 states while traveling and camping. Along with his wife, they were members of the Nature Coast Wing Riders and past Assistant Directors of the club.

Thompson served our country in the Army National Guard for a number of years. He attended the First Baptist Church of Inverness, FL. Additionally, he was a member of the Poage Lodge #325 F&AM, and the Shriners Valley of Zered El (Al) Hasa.

Darrell is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Linda Music Thompson. The mother of his daughters, Janice Butler Webb of Flatwoods, KY, and their daughters, Betty “Susan” Jackson of Inverness, Vicki (Jeff) Bullion of Versailles, KY. Timothy (Karrie) Lofton of Waynesville, OH. Grandchildren, Phillip (Samantha) Blair, Nicholas Blair, Katherine Bullion, Brynn and Bryce Lofton, and Chase Dixon; brother, Tom (Janie) Thompson of Hernando, FL and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Private cremation arrangements under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness.
