Robert F. Taber, age 75, of Inverness, FL passed away at Citrus Memorial Hospital with his loving family by his side on October 22, 2018. Robert was born on September 18, 1943 in Baxter, KY and was the son of the late Francis and Hyla (Potter) Taber.
He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army for over 20 years. After his military service, Robert went on to work for the Maryland State Police. On April 4, 1966, he married Gudrun (Hartmann) with whom he shared 52 years of loving marriage.
Robert was a member of the Ridge Masonic Lodge and the Treasurer of the Floral City Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite Valley of Ocala. He loved riding motorcycles and was the former President of the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club. Robert enjoyed traveling around the country in his R. V. for many years. He was an excellent marksman and enjoyed going to the shooting range to practice his skills.
In addition to his loving wife Gudrun, those left to mourn Robert’s passing include his daughters: Christine Seitler of Ocala, FL, Claudia Heaps and her husband Robert of Street, MD; son, Andreas Taber and his wife Susan of Denver, CO; grandchildren: Tara Catterton, Corie Seitler, Jason Seitler, Shannon Stevens; and great grandchild, Thomas Matkins IV.
A Memorial Service for Robert will take place on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness. Masonic Funeral Rites will be rendered by Masonic Memorial Lodge #14. Additionally, military honors will be given by the Inverness VFW #4337 Honor Guard. Friends are invited to join Robert’s family in visitation beginning at 1:00 PM until the hour of service. Arrangements are under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory.
