Betty J. Rhodes

Betty J. (Love) Rhodes, 91, of Inverness, FL passed away Oct. 17 at Citrus Health and Rehab. She was born Feb. 10, 1927 to Iva and Walter Love, Sr. in Roscoe, Illinois. She was one of 17 children.

She met the love of her life, Ira and they were married in Rockford, Illinois on Dec. 21, 1947. They lived in Belvidere, IL for 50 years until he had a stroke in 1997 and they moved to FL. to be closer to their daughter, Mary. She was married to Ira for 55 years until his death in 2002. She resided with her daughter until 2017 when her health declined and she went to live at Citrus Health and Rehab.

Betty was a member of Hernando United Methodist Church although she hadn’t been able to attend services for quite some time. She was a loving mother and grand and great grandmother. She was a housewife who enjoyed reading, sewing, traveling and visiting her friends and family.

She is survived by her only child, Mary Sickels. Betty has 3 grandchildren Micki (Scott) Dickerson, April (Andy) Brittain and Scott Wood. Six great grandchildren Stephanie, Amber, Jeremy, Zachary, Samuel, and Sammi and a great-great granddaughter Alaina. She is also survived by 2 brother, George (Carole) Love of Wisconsin and James Love of FL, 3 sister-in-laws Gerri Love of Illinois, Evelyn Love of California and Ruth Root of FL. and many nieces and nephews across the U.S.

No services are planned at this time, but a celebration of life will be held at a future date. Cremation Care is under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home With Crematory, Inverness.
