Samuel Darwin Shotwell, age 95, of Lecanto, FL passed away at Brentwood Assisted Living on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 while under the care of Vitas Healthcare. Samuel was born on March 28, 1923 in Gloversville, NY to the late Everit and Ethel (Showers) Shotwell. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps and was a World War II Veteran.
On January 30, 1943 he married Helen (Epps) with whom he shared 69 years of loving marriage until her passing on May 25, 2012. Samuel was an Accountant in his professional career and had been employed by the Internal Revenue Service. He was a long time, active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Inverness. Those left to mourn Samuel’s passing are his sons: Everit “Wayne” Shotwell of Virginia Beach, VA and Ronald Shotwell of Inverness, FL
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 3:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Inverness with the Reverend Ron Pfeifer conducting. Burial will take place at Florida National Cemetery at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
