Charles Lee Durham, age 86 of Inverness, passed away at home on Sunday, September 9, 2018. Charles was born in Miami Beach, Florida on November 22, 1931 to the late Charles H. and Ruth (Young) Durham. He came to Citrus County in 1986 from Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Charles was a US Air Force Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired engineer with Southern Bell Telephone, a member of the Seven Rivers Presbyterian Church in Lecanto and was a former member of the Miami Springs, FL Masonic Lodge #145. Charles was an avid bicyclist and triathlon participant.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters: Jennifer L. Buchanan of Pembroke Pines, FL, Kimberly Y. Johnson of Plantation, FL and Lori L. Durham of Miami, FL; 3 grandchildren: Justin Buchanan, Brian Buchanan and Karen Jacobs and 6 great grandchildren: Weston, James, Jonathan, Cameron, Benjamin and Lauren. Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Patricia on January 7, 2016 and his two brothers, Paul and Thomas.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be conducted Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory in Inverness with Reverend Ray Cortese of Seven Rivers Presbyterian Church officiating. Friends are invited to join Charles’ family in visitation beginning at 10:00 AM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society www.nationalmssociety.org or by calling (800) 344-4867. Charles’ urn will be interred at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, at a later date.
