Gladys Clara Rose Bowman, 100, of Inverness, FL (formally and most of her life from Cicero, IN) was welcomed home by her heavenly father on September 4, 2018 under the care of Hospice House in Lecanto, FL. She was born in Doland, SD on March 5, 1918 to the late Julian and Myrtle (Fortin) Remily. She was the eldest of nine children. Gladys was a homemaker, an avid seamstress, and life-long care-giver to many children. She was a devout Catholic and a long-time member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cicero, IN. She lived her life guided by her faith and was a beacon to her family and those that loved her.
She moved to Inverness, FL in 2004, to be closer to her daughters and granddaughter. Gladys always welcomed people to her table and loved to cook. She also loved to gather with family and friends around the table to play cards. She was preceded in death by her husband Edwin in 1998, 2 sons, Ronald J. and Norbert E. Bowman; daughter Patricia A. Brown; and 5 sisters. Survivors include her daughter Janice Cannon of Inverness; brothers Maurice and Marvin Remily; and sister Rachel Cotes; 4 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service for Gladys will be held in Cicero, Indiana on Friday, November 23 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cicero. Burial immediately following service at the Cicero Cemetery. Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL is assisting the family with arrangements.
