Robert Charles Andrew Bogart passed away at his home in Tampa on Sunday, September 2, 2018.Mr. Robert was born August 30, 1937 to Harriet Soules Bogart and Henry Limerick Bogart. He was born in East New York. Mr. Bogart attended Public elementary school and attended Franklin K. Lane H. S. He was one of fourteen children. At seventeen, he joined the Navy and resided in Van Nuys, California. He was a yeoman in the Navy during the Korean War, and then re-enlisted to serve a total of almost 16 years. He left California and moved back to East New York. This is where he met and married Francine T. DiBartolo on May 28, 1966. Robert was a roofer in N.Y., and also worked on
Wall St. for a time.
In his earlier years, he enjoyed bowling. His pastimes included solving all kinds of puzzles in the newspaper, and doing various puzzles in books. Robert was a Christian.
In November 1968, he and his wife, along with his 13 month old daughter Darlinda, moved to Inverness, where they built a house on Gospel Island. Robert worked as a roofer here, as well as, in other construction. He earned his GED, and went on to Central Florida Community College. There he earned an AA and an A.S. degree in criminology and corrections. He was employed as a security guard at the Correctional Institute in Sumterville, and then the Youth Detention Center in Marion County. He later worked as a security guard in various places.
After celebrating a re-marriage in January 1983, Robert and Francine divorced in January 1997. They had six children. Robert is preceded in death by his daughter Darlinda in February 1992. She was a math teacher at Citrus H.S. He is also preceded in death by his youngest son Nathan in February 2015.
Robert is survived by his ex-wife Francine, sons Ryan (Veronica), Brady (Barbie), Derrick, and Damon (Holly.) Robert has six grandchildren, Jared, Cody, Austin, Garrett, Carly and Kinsey. He has one surviving sister Joan of Long Island, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews. Also, sister and brother-in-laws.
Services for Robert will be Sat. Sept.8 at Chas Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, FL from 9:30 until 10:00 A.M. for family and 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. for the public. Robert’s urn will be laid to rest at Fero Memorial Gardens, Beverly Hills, FL. at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to: Kinsey Lynn Bogart Trust Fund, 736 N.E. 36th Avenue, Ocala, FL 34470. Arrangements under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness.
