Patrick Joseph Faherty, age 68, of Inverness and Ormond Beach, FL, died August 29, 2018, at Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, Lecanto, FL. Pat was born on September 15, 1949, in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Bernard and Hermina (Mance) Faherty. He earned his Bachelors Degree in Communications from Nova Southern University and went on to earn his Masters Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Miami. In April of 1977 he married Diana (Snyder) with whom he shared 41 years of loving marriage.

Pat was a writer and editor, working in community journalism in Colorado, California, Minnesota and Florida. He wrote the book “Fastest Truck in Vietnam” based on his service in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1968 to 1969. Pat worked for Landmark Communications for 8 years, including time at the Citrus County Chronicle.

He reveled in the outdoors, whether camping, snow skiing, dog sledding, biking or surfing. Pat loved his motorcycles, especially his Ural Gear Up. In retirement, he discovered the joy and challenge of running and called himself Viejo Corredor (Old Runner). Pat was a student of Spanish, using his studies as an excuse to travel to many Central and South American countries.

In addition to his loving wife Diana, Pat is survived by his brother, Tom Faherty and his wife Vicki of Ormond Beach, FL; sister, Mary Welch of Gainesville, FL; 3 nieces and 2 nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast would be appreciated (hospiceofcitrus.org).

Cremation care is provided by the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
