Alec Bishop McMurray, age 17, Inverness passed away suddenly Aug. 12, 2018. Alec was born in Lake City, Florida on Oct. 25, 2000 and came to Inverness when he was 2 years old. He attended Inverness Primary, Inverness Middle and Citrus High Schools where he currently was in the senior class and scheduled to graduate with the Class of 2019. Alec’s love was for football and played on the varsity squad during his high school career. He would have been a starter on the offensive line this season. Alec was such a loving and responsible young man. Never meeting a stranger, he constantly was helping others and served as a role model for many of his contemporaries.
Alec believed that everyone needed help, no matter how big or small, and he was the one to do the job. He loved life and the people in it. His smile was contagious, and if not, his expressions made you laugh. His best plan was to show people that everyone was good. To bring everyone together was his best attribute. He was a gentle giant that saved everyone and everything. His attitude was that he could do anything and everything, and he succeeded. He used his power for good, always.
Left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory are his parents, Kelley and Anthony S. DeMaio, of Inverness; 2 brothers, Jacob and Aaron DeMaio and his sister, Taylor DeMaio, all of Inverness; Paternal Grandmother, Anne DeMaio of Floral City; Maternal Grandfather, Rick Bowen of Lake City, FL; 2 nieces and 1 nephew. He was preceded in death by his Paternal Grandfather, Anthony DeMaio and Maternal Grandmother, Margaret Bowen.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service from the Cornerstone Baptist Church on Thursday, August 16th at 6:00 P.M. with Pastor Greg Kell officiating. To honor Alec’s memory, please consider donations to Citrus High School (earmarked for the football program) 600 W. Highland Ave., Inverness, Florida 34452. Arrangements under the care of Chas. E.
