Rocco W. Gero, Jr., age 79, of Inverness, FL passed away July 30, 2018 at Citrus Memorial Hospital, Inverness. Rocco was born on December 14, 1938 in Madison, N.J. to the late Lucy (Antonnacio) and Rocco Gero, Sr.
In 1957 he married Doris (Hoffmann), with whom he shared 61 years of loving marriage. In 1974 they relocated to Safety Harbor, FL from Madison, N.J. Then in 1991 they made their home in Citrus County, FL. Rocco started learning professional tile installation from his uncle at the young age of 14 and continued in the tile business for over 45 years. He was Catholic by faith and a parishioner of St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Lecanto, FL for a number of years. In his spare time he enjoyed doing yard work, growing vegetables in his garden and construction projects.
In addition to his loving wife Doris, those left to mourn Rocco’s passing include his sons: Richard (Sue) Gero of Safety Harbor, FL, Donald Gero of Rockaway, N.J., Rocco Gero III of Clearwater, FL, Alan Gero of Holiday, FL, Christopher (Cheryl) Gero of Hudson, FL; daughters: Lucy (Ricky) Murphy of League City, TX, Ellen Myers of Clearwater, FL, Doreen (Chris) Haviland of Dearborn Heights, MI; brothers: Joe (Fran) Gero, Bartholomew Gero, Michael Gero, Martin Gero, Tony Orlando (Patricia) Gero; sister, Nicolina Keefe; 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Rocco was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Felicia and his brother, Jerome.
A Funeral Service of Remembrance is scheduled for Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory with Father Jose Tejada of St. Scholastica Catholic Church officiating. Burial will follow at Hills of Rest Cemetery, Floral City, FL.
