Elinor P. “Joyce” Walker, 88, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at home under the loving care of her family and Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast. Born in Fairfield, AL on January 18, 1930, to the late James Clarice and Lilla Mae (Stephens) Piper, she came here 18 years ago from Lake Wales, FL. Joyce was a secretary at the University of South Florida for over 10 years.

A member of the First Baptist Church of Inverness, she spent over 40 years teaching 4 & 5 year olds Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Joyce was an avid quilter and liked crocheting. She enjoyed researching her family’s background, reading, puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss are her husband of almost 68 years, Robert E. Walker; her children: Robert E. Walker, Jr., and his wife Nanette, of Riverview, FL and Sherry Lynn Frink and her husband Gerald, of Tampa, FL; her sisters: Margaret Jean Fulton of Enterprise, AL and Jacquelyn Ann Shelton of Savannah, GA; 4 grandchildren: Monica Fenimore, Erin Lysse, Robert Walker, III and Jonathan Walker; and 12 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Joyce will be conducted on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Inverness, with Rev. Byron Brown, officiating. Friends may call at Church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will take place at 1:00 PM at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, P.O. Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464. Arrangements are under the direction of the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness.
