Vincent Donald Carrara, age 97, of Beverly Hills, FL passed away at his home on Saturday, July 14, 2018. He was born in Schenectady, NY on November 14, 1920 to the late Nancy (Santore) Boyce and the late Michael Carrara.
Vincent was Catholic by faith and proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy Amphibious Division. Vincent was a World War II Veteran and took part in the Invasion of Normandy landing at Utah Beach.
In 1941 he married Mary Anne Legnante, with whom he shared 75 years of marriage until her passing on January 7, 2017. Vincent and Mary made Citrus County, FL their home over 20 years ago after relocating from Schenectady, NY. In his spare time, he enjoyed golf, fishing and hunting.
Vincent will be remembered by his only son, Wayne Carrara, his wife Jennifer of Schenectady, NY and only granddaughter Krystle Carrara of Hollywood, FL; a sister, Sandra Garufy of Binghamton, NY and a brother, Richard Boyce and his wife Joan of Sarasota, FL; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Vincent was predeceased by his wife Mary Anne and a sister, Matilda Boughton.
A Graveside Memorial Service is scheduled for Friday, July 20, 2018 at 1:30 PM at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL, and conducted by Deacon Nick Nowak of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Inverness. Full military honors will be rendered by Inverness VFW #4337 Honor Guard. Arrangements are under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
