Cornelia “Connie” Sonja Stratman Wimberly, 81, of Hernando, Florida, moved to heaven on July 5, 2018. She was born in Tampa, Florida, on January 18, 1937, to the late John and Elvira (Forsell) Stratman, grew up in Biscayne Park, FL and lived most of her adult life in Miramar and Pembroke Pines until she moved up to Hernando in 2012.
She was joyfully married to the love of her life, Paul Evans Wimberly II, for 40 years until he moved to heaven on May 9, 1997.
Connie found great joy in spending time with her family, and she loved Jesus with all her heart! It was her desire to be able to share the love she found in Jesus with everyone she could and many people were positively impacted by her grace and warm hospitality. She was an accomplished sewist, cook, and baker, being known for her famous “Yummy Bread”, and she enjoyed being outdoors camping or gardening or going on adventures with her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her 4 daughters and their husbands whom she loved as her own: Connie Nye Frischholz, Central Florida; Pamela Gill and husband Joseph, Beverly Hills, FL; Barbara Brown and husband David, Hernando, FL; and Susan Downs and husband Kevin, Orlando, FL. As well as three brothers and their loving wives: John Emil Stratmann and wife Lucia, Panama CIty, Panama; Robert Emil Stratman and wife Vivian, Port Orange, FL; Carole Stratman, Hollywood, FL; and Paul Nicholas Stratman, St Louis Park, MN.
Connie was blessed with 15 wonderful grandchildren, 24 adorable great-grandchildren, and 10 precious great-great-grandchildren whom she loved to see in pictures, watch as they played, and especially get snuggled and kissed whenever they visited. Connie always tried to write all her family as they grew each year on their birthdays until she was no longer able. She so longed for each one to know how greatly they were loved by her and our precious Savior, Jesus!
Along with her beloved husband, Paul, she was predeceased by her older sister, Rosita Gesine “Cookie” Stratmann West, her precious brother John Albin Stratman, and her loving sons-in-law Roger Jordan Nye and Edward John Frischholz.
There will be a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Charles E. Davis Funeral Home in Inverness, FL, with refreshments following at Calvary Chapel Inverness Fellowship Hall (next door). Friends are invited to visit with the family from 1:00 PM until the hour of service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for friends to plant a flowering bush in your own yard or hers to remember her love for you and our Savior Jesus as you see the yearly blooms.
