Dorcas “Marie” Privett, 88, of Inverness, FL passed away July 2, 2018 at Highland Place in Inverness. She was born in Braggadocio, MO on November 11, 1929 to the late Jesssie W. and Mary (Wilburn) James.
Marie was a homemaker and arrived in this area in 1983, coming from Bangor, MI. She attended the First United Methodist Church in Inverness, and enjoyed Bible Study and participating in Church activities. She also enjoyed sewing, crafts, gardening, loved her 4 children, her grandchildren, as well as loved her dog “Baby Girl”.
Marie was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 50 years, Harry Lloyd Privett in 2000, and one brother, Jessie James, Jr. She is survived by her children, Shirley Dilts and her husband Jackie of South Daytona, FL, Archie E. Privett and his wife Mary of South Haven, MI, Mary Petro and her husband Eric of Albion, MI, and Debbie Chandler and her husband Rich of Inverness; sister Mary Francis Viscuso of Pittsburg, CA; 10 grandchildren, Regina, Heather, Tonya, Stacie, Kara, Rob, Chad, Kathleen, Shannon, and Richard, Jr.; 22 great-grandchildren; and 2 great great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Marie’s Life is scheduled for Saturday, July 7, 10:00 A.M. at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Marie’s memory to the Diabetes Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
