Where Planning Is A Gift That Lives On

C. Jean Wilcoxon DeHart left us on July 1, 2018. She was ready, we were not. She was born January 1, 1937 in the usual way for that era. She lived in Indiana most of her adult life until the tender age of 69 and moved to Inverness, Florida, initially hesitating because “I don’t like the grass!” She became known as “Gran” to many. She loved her Florida nickname as much as her Indiana nickname of “Sqee”, which was appropriate as well as a long story.

Jean was preceded in death by many people, some are famous, most are not and they are family members. She is survived by 6 brothers and sisters (5 are in-laws, but she always considered them hers); 3 adult children, who have managed not to kill each other; 1 grandson, 2 great grandsons, who loved her to the moon and back; dozens of nieces and nephews, who thought she was “all that and a bag of chips” and spoiled her and a cat with 2 names.

Gran aka Sqee was sassy and salty. Her finger snap sounded like a whip, had a wonderful sense of fun. She was known to shove a cream pie in your face after teaching you the jitterbug. Jean was a very special lady who never met a stranger, was loved, cherished and will be missed by many. She did not want to be mourned. Instead a celebration of her life is being planned for her here and Indiana.
