Major John Edward Ziacik, Jr., U.S. Army (Ret) of Homosassa, FL passed away May 8, 2018 in the Gwinnett Medical Center, Lawrenceville, GA. Maj. Ziacik was born in Natrona Heights, PA on August 5, 1941 to the late John E. and Agnes (Kubla) Ziacik and moved to Citrus County in 2008 from Palm Beach County, FL. He began his career in the US Air Force and then served our country in the US Army. He was a registered nurse and had a Master of Science in Systems Management from the University of Southern California. After retiring from the Army, Maj. Ziacik worked for the Veteran’s Administration Health System for 22 years. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Homosassa.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years, Ernestine (Mirandola) Ziacik, Homosassa, FL; 2 daughters, Terri Lynn Ziacik and husband, Stephen J. Wallace, Bellevue, WA; Shelley Anne Ziacik, Chicago, IL; 2 brothers, Louis J. Ziacik, Natrona Heights, PA and Michael Ziacik, Ridge Manor, FL; and 2 grandchildren, Devin and Katherine Delaney Wallace.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Fr. Ron Marecki, celebrant. Inurnment with military honors will follow at Florida National Cemetery (Bushnell, FL) in the columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the USO (uso.org / USO Department WS, PO Box 96860, Washington DC, 20090-6860).
