Hazel Berger, 91 of Inverness, passed away Monday, May 7, 2018 at Serenades at The Villages under the care of Cornerstone Hospice. Hazel was born on December 8, 1926 in Irvine, KY to the late Frank and Betty (Campbell) Neal.
She moved to Citrus County in 1970 from St. Petersburg, FL. Hazel was a devoted Christian and fellowshipped at numerous churches throughout the community. The world was also her mission field. In addition to traveling to Honduras, Mexico, Texas, and Alaska, her favorite mission field was garage sales in Citrus County. Along with her husband Len, she actively spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to everyone she met, everywhere she went.
Left to cherish her memory are 4 children: Arthur B. Berger and wife, Gina of Inverness; Kennie Berger and wife, Melinda of Inverness; Lennie Berger and wife, Terry of The Villages; Dr. Sandra Berger of Linden, VA; 1 brother, Roy G. Neal of Hillsboro, OH; 6 sisters: Dora Henry of Irvine, KY; Opal Puckett Day of Dayton, OH; Lucille Harrison of Irvine, KY; Zorea Hay of Louisville, KY; Faye Hisel of Beaver Creek, OH; Eunice Hall of Kettering, OH; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Vernon “Len” Berger on July 27, 2009, her brother, Lloyd Neal, and her sister, Irene Noland.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, May 12th at 3:00 P.M. from the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with her sons, Pastors Kennie and Lennie Berger co-officiating. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery Monday, May 14th at 10:00 A.M. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 2:00 P.M. until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to NorthRidge Church, 400 Adelphi Street, Inverness, FL 34452 for distribution to her favorite missions.
