John Grissen

John Grissen, 100, of Inverness, FL passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at New Horizon Assisted Living in Inverness. He was born in Rusk, MI on June 2, 1917 to the late Henry and Jennie (Schrotenboer) Grissen.

John was a Tool and Dye Maker, as well as a celery farmer. A man of deep faith, he was a charter member of Haven Reformed Church in Hamilton, MI. John arrived in this area 13 years ago, and enjoyed gardening, golfing, playing cards, and loved his church and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred (Kaper) Grissen, and his second wife, Eunice Skelton Grissen. He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Raymond and Harold Grissen, and 2 sisters, Sue Weatherwax and Gladys Van Huis. John is survived by his sons, David Grissen and his wife Sharon of Bend, OR, and Jerry Grissen and his wife Pat of Inverness; 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

A Celebration of Life for John will be held on Tuesday, 2:00 P.M. at Living Water Ministries, 4007 N. Lecanto Hwy., Beverly Hills, FL 34465, with Pastor Wayne Wilkinson officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in John’s memory to Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, PO Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL, 34464.
