Doreen Alice Earl, age 82, of Hernando, FL, passed away at Superior Residences of Lecanto on Tuesday, March 27, 2018. Doreen was born on March 16, 1936, in London, England, to the late Ernest John Thomas and Alice (Fuller) James. On October 5, 1957, she married Colin Earl, with whom she shared 60 years of loving marriage.
Doreen and Colin immigrated to the United States from England in 1968 and settled in Michigan. In 1998, they made Citrus County their home. Doreen worked as a Librarian and had volunteered much of her time to her children’s elementary school library. She later worked as an Office Manager for a Podiatrist. She learned both German and French and had taken refresher courses for both later in life. Doreen enjoyed Tai Chi, Genealogy and knitting and crocheting. She also liked reading mystery novels.
In addition to her loving husband Colin, those left to mourn Doreen’s passing include her daughter, Tracie Bishop and her husband Brian of Parsonsburg, MD; son, Stuart Earl and his wife Tammie of Land O’ Lakes, FL; brother, Keith James and his wife Inga of England; and grandchildren: Colin and Austin Earl and Jessica Bishop. She was preceded in death by brother, Danny James in 2016.
A celebration of Doreen’s life will take place on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at 11:00 AM from the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, with Father Eugene Reuman of St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church of Inverness, Celebrant. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home for the viewing beginning at 10:00 AM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, Doreen’s family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011. Arrangements are under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
