Tracy Howard Humble, age 96, of Inverness, FL, passed away March, 2, 2018, while under the care of Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, Lecanto. Tracy was born on March 24, 1921, in Champaign County, OH, to the late Frank and Clara (Mossbarger) Humble.
He attended school in Urbana, OH, and was Valedictorian of his high school class. Tracy proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army and was a Veteran of World War II. During his military service, he was stationed in India and worked as an engineer for the railroad.
Tracy met the love of his life, Dorothy Marine, at a skating rink when he was just 20, and she 19. They were wed in 1942, and had a loving marriage that lasted 69 years until her passing in 2011. Every day they spent together they made an effort to tell one another how much they were loved. Tracy and Dorothy made Citrus County their winter home in 1975 and eventually made it their permanent home after relocating from West Liberty, OH. He was a past president of the Lions Club of West Liberty, OH. A man of faith, he was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Inverness, FL, and a member of the Church of Christ in Christian Union, Urbana, OH. Tracy was the very first member of the Lakeside Golf and Country Club, Inverness, and was proud that he had shot his age in golf over 130 times. He was the founder of Humble Construction in West Liberty, OH, and had planned, designed and built over 500 homes throughout his career. Tracy was quite an adventurer and had traveled the globe. Some of his destinations included Japan, South America, Europe and the Middle East.
Those left to mourn Tracy’s passing include his daughters: Sandra Johnson of West Liberty, OH, Heidi Humble Poe and her husband Scott of Blackstone, VA; son, Paul “Terry” Humble and his wife Jane of Indian Lake, OH; grandchildren: Matt, Lance, Steve, Brooke, Taka and Oliver. In addition to his loving wife Dorothy, Tracy was preceded in death by 9 siblings and son-in-law, Dan Johnson.
Cremation care is under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
