Marie Catherine Foley, age 92, of Hernando and formerly of Floral City, FL, passed away at The Grove Health and Rehab on February 27, 2018. Marie was born on November 28, 1925 in Oceanside, N.Y. to the late Frank and Marie (Tuting) Lemily.
On April 20, 1947, she married Harold William “Farmer” Foley, with whom she shared 63 years of marriage until his passing on April 11, 2010. Marie and Harold made Citrus County their home in 1964 after relocating from Pinellas Park, FL. They owned and operated Farmer Foley’s Fruit Stand in Inverness for a number of years then went on to own and operate Farmer Foley’s Nursery. Marie liked to spend her time reading and watching baseball on television. She also loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Those left to mourn Marie’s passing and cherish her memory are her sons: John Foley of Eureka Springs, AR, William Foley of Caddo Mills, TX; daughters: Cathy Banks of Port Orchard, WA, Nancy Slack of Jacksonville, FL, Julie McClelland of Inverness, FL, Janie Larsen of Hernando, FL; sister, Elizabeth Foley of Zephyrhills, FL; 12 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. In addition to her husband Harold, Marie was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Lemily, and one grandchild.
You are invited to celebrate the long and wonderful life of Marie Foley on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at 11:00 AM at 2595 E. Hampshire Street, Inverness, FL, 34453. She had an impact on many people’s lives and touched so many hearts. We want to gather on this day not to mourn her loss, but to celebrate her life and the memories that so many of us share. We will be providing sub sandwiches, drinks and a few of Marie’s favorite desserts and ask of those able and willing to bring a potluck side dish or dessert. If you are able to join us on this celebratory day, please RSVP to Jessica at 478-334-4967, as we will need a head count for those who plan to attend. Cremation care is under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
