Camilo Cartagena, age 95, of Citrus Springs, passed away at his residence on February 19, 2018. Camilo was born on May 15, 1922 in Bahia, Ecuador to the late Camilo and Maria Carmelina (Parra Barreto) Cartagena.
Prior to his retirement in 1982, he was employed as a Security Officer at Harvard University, Cambridge, MA. In 1983, Camilo relocated to Citrus Springs, FL and was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. He enjoyed many activities including playing softball and playing tennis 2 to 3 times a week until the age of 85. Camilo loved the ocean, fishing and being outdoors. He also played on bowling and softball teams and was a member of a singles club.
Those left to mourn Camilo’s passing are his daughters: Gloria Cartagena of Cambridge, MA, Carmelina “Tina” Gosselin and her husband Stephen of Citrus Springs, FL; and sister, Rosa Ortiz of Manta, Ecuador. Camilo was preceded in death by his son in law, David Harrison, in January of 2018. Cremation care is under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
