Dorothy Evelyn Thomas, 94, of Hernando, FL passed away January 18 2018 at her residence in Hernando. She was born in Tampa, FL on October 14, 1923 to the late Edward and Evelyn (Tucker) Best.
Dorothy was a retired Administrative Officer for the U.S. Public Health Service in Tampa for 27 years, and was a member of St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Inverness, FL.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband William Adam Thomas in 1992. Survivors include her daughter, Catherine Washer of Hernando, FL; grandson Christopher Washer and his wife Leigh-Ann of Baton Rouge, LA, and 2 great-grandchildren, Madeliene and Clara Washer.
A Funeral Service of Remembrance for Dorothy is scheduled for Tuesday, 11:00 A.M. at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Inverness with Fr. Eugene Reuman officiating. Burial will take place at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL, after the service. A Reception for Family and Friends will take place at the church, following the cemetery service, at 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. The family will be receiving friends at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home on Monday, 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M.
