Virginia C. Thorpe

Virginia C. Thorpe, age 94, of Inverness, FL passed away January 16, 2018 at Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast in Lecanto. Virginia was born in West Hartford, CT on January 18, 1923 to the late Everett and Laura (Starbuck) Case. She and her late husband were “weekenders” in Citrus County from St. Petersburg since 1966. They settled here permanently in 1978. After moving here, she served as an Office Administrator for Metalline, Inc. her husband’s and son’s business, for over 15 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was a wonderful cross-stitcher. She served our country in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946.

Left to cherish her memory are her 2 children, Brad Thorpe and his wife Donna of Inverness and her daughter, Nancy Lamb from Clearwater, FL. There are 5 grandchildren, Annette, David, Brian, Carrie, and Blake; and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Richard B. Thorpe to whom she was married for 41 years. He passed away May 15, 1989. Her second husband, Elliott Vestal passed away after 10 years of marriage. She was also preceded by 2 brothers, Everett and Robert Case and her sister, Barbara Thorpe.

There will be a Celebration of Life with family and friends at a later date in St. Petersburg. Following cremation, her urn will be buried in Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Petersburg, FL. Memorial donations are requested to Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, PO Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464. The Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home With Crematory assisted the family.
