Joan Alice Anderson, age 84, of Sanford, FL died at home with her loving daughter and while under the care of Hospice of the Comforter on January 10, 2018. Joan Alice was born in Highland Park, MI on October 11, 1933 to the late Henry and Thara (Pinkston) Holmes. She had 1 sister. Joan.
Alice married the late Edward Anderson on August 4, 1951 with whom she shared 65 years of marriage. She met Edward at a party when they were teenagers and throughout their life together he always told her, “so glad you made it to the party”. Joan Alice adored Edward and they had a very special and loving relationship. She and Edward spent almost all of their time together and always held hands. They would even hold hands while they fell asleep each night. She had to spend 16 months on this earth without her soulmate at her side after his passing. That was the hardest loss she had ever experienced. We know they are dancing in heaven. They are finally back together where they belong.
Joan Alice was very artistic and loved to paint. She had an amazing sense of humor and always brightened up any room she was in. Joan Alice enjoyed doing yard work and gardening with Edward. They once received the Floral City Garden Club yard award.
Joan Alice was very family oriented and loved spending her time with them. She was a regular volunteer at her granddaughter’s school and even assisted with her granddaughter’s Girl Scout troop. She greatly enjoyed volunteer work and giving back to her community. She was a fan of all things Disney and enjoyed taking her family to the Disney theme parks. They were always the first to enter the park and the last ones to leave at night. She took great joy in spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were the light of her life.
Those left to mourn Joan Alice’s passing are her daughters: Karen Lynne Hirsch and her husband Larry, and Joanie Michelle Anderson. Granddaughter: Amanda Bond and her husband Art. Great grandchildren: Brayton Edward Bond and Madison Kennedy Bond. Sister: Patricia Clark. Family Friend: Michael Burns. Nephews: Christopher Rakauskas, and Mark Rakauskas and his wife Linda. Joan Alice was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Allison Hirsch and her husband, Edward Anderson.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 3:00 PM from the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 2:00 PM until the hour of service. Joan Alice’s urn will be laid to rest along with Edward at Florida National Cemetery
