Marie K Pennington

Marie K. Pennington, 93, of Beverly Hills, FL., died peacefully Nov. 12, 2017 in hospice after a period of failing health.

Beloved and devoted wife for 59 years to her late husband, Robert. Loving mother of Allen and his wife Gayle of Stoughton, MA., Glen and his wife Annette of Bowling Green, KY. and pre-deceased by her beloved daughter Kathleen.

Mrs. Pennington leaves 3 surviving grandchildren, Terence Pennington and his wife Caralyne of Munfordville, KY., Paul Mandell, Jr. of Needham, MA. and NJ., and Harper Mandell of North Easton, MA. Also, Mrs. Pennington was pre-deceased by her first and oldest grandchild, Karyn Pennington.

Mrs. Pennington was the youngest and last surviving member of a family of 6 siblings. As a young child she lived on Big Tancook Island, Mahone Bay Nova Scotia as well as Halifax. Upon her marriage in 1945 to her husband Robert, she immigrated to Massachusetts where they raised a family in Dorchester and Randolph. In 1987, Marie and Robert retired to Beverly Hills, FL. where they enjoyed a happy and fulfilling life, especially with fellow friends and members of the Hernando Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

One of life’s greatest joys to Mrs. Pennington was her love of vegetable and flower gardening. She shared her love and knowledge of all things green with all those whom she knew. She successfully cultivated and nurtured her garden as if it were her 4th child. When the harvest was ready, she then graciously shared the fruits of her labor with friends and neighbors.

The Pennington family wishes to express gratitude and appreciation to the Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast and additionally to Dr. Charles Prentice who cared for our parents for several decades.

At this time, the family would especially like to express its appreciation to Joy, Diana and Desmond Campbell of Citrus Springs, FL. and to the entire Campbell family for the kind and loving care-giving they provided to our beloved mother. Their devotion and dedication to seeing that our mother was well cared for and comfortable – particularly in her final days and hours – is something our family will always be grateful for.

The family will honor and remember Mrs. Pennington in a private family service. Cremation care under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
