Maria Xenophontos, 75 of Inverness, passed away Monday, November 6, 2017 at Citrus Memorial Hospital. Maria was born in Cyprus on May 27, 1945 to the late Stavros and Eleni Efsthathiou. She came to Citrus County in 1987 from Island Park, NY. Maria was a seamstress and a member of Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Peter Panayi and fiancee’ Marianne Trzcinski of Massapequa, NY; step sons: Nick Xenophon and spouse Bill Jayne of, Mesa, AZ, Chris Xenophon, Inverness, FL; step daughters: Rosemary Maisel and husband John of Floral City, FL, Deborah Helm of Tallahassee, FL, Gigi Klein, and husband Robert of Inverness, Laura Clark of Winder, GA, Donna Xenophon of Inverness and Tricia Velez and husband Ray of Birmingham, AL; brother, Costas Efsthathiou and wife Nina of Massapequa, NY, sisters: Efstathia Constanti and husband, Charlie of East Rockaway, NY, Paraskevou Savva and husband Stelios of Massapequa, NY, 20 step grandchildren and many neices and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, Nicos Xenophontos, Oct. 24, 2010, and her brothers: Andreas and George Efsthathiou.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 2:00 PM from Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church with Fr. Michael Petrides officiating. Additional services are scheduled from the Panaghia Church of Island Park, NY. Burial will follow in Pinelawn Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY.
