The Angels came to take Mary Pauline Twyford home on November 2, 2017 at Arbor Trail in Inverness, Florida. She was 97. Mary Pauline was born on June 14, 1920, in Brookhaven, Mississippi to Herbert and Eva (Everett) Smith.
Mary moved to Florida as a young girl. After attending school in Miami and at Old Miss, she married Pete Colbert. They lived in Miami Springs, FL where they raised 2 children. After Pete’s death, she married “Bud” Twyford and eventually moved to Inverness, FL. Mary Pauline was a very fortunate lady to have had two loves of her life.
Mary Pauline was a longtime member of Miami Springs Presbyterian Church. She loved playing bridge. In Miami Springs she played with the same women for over 40 years and was very happy to find a bridge group in Inverness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C. L. “Bud” Twyford (2006) and her first husband, the father of her children P.M. “Pete” Colbert . Also, Herbert and Eva Smith, parents; John T. Colbert, son; Joseph Sapp, Step Grandson; Monica Dowler, Step Granddaughter; and Rosa Lee Turner, Sister. She is survived by: Daughter, Carol Poole (Thomas); Daughter-in-Law, Susan Colbert; Niece, Bettie McElroy (Bob).
Grandchildren: Julie Bleam (Chris); Michael Danzis, Jr. (Linda); John Colbert (Lisa); Tim Colbert (Jenny): Dawn Crites (Clay): Melisa Jones (John). Great Grandchildren: Nicole Hankins (Chris); Kelsey Colbert, Chase Colbert, Cameron Colbert, Cody Colbert, Alicia Dowler, Amanda Dowler, Joseph Dowler; Eric Mash (Jennifer); Donnie Mash (Toni). Great-Great Grandchildren: Aysiah Hankins, Sawyer Hankins, Tristan Hankins, Emilie Moore, Jaylynn Mash, Aubren Mash, Lila Mash. A special thanks to her long time caregivers Jennifer and Sandy for your care and kindness.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be conducted on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 3:00 PM from the Chas E Davis Funeral Home with Rev. Mary Gestrich, pastor of the Floral City United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Hills of Rest Cemetery, Floral City. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 PM until the time of service.
