Donald Kenneth Lewis, 86, Floral City passed away October 23, 2017 at Citrus Memorial Hospital with his family at his bedside. He was born in Highland Park, MI on April 20, 1931 to the late Homer A. and Irene (Fortin) Lewis and was raised by Homer and Wilma (Beaversdorf) Lewis, after Irene passed away.

Donald moved to Florida in 1997. He retired from the Detroit Free Press as a printer with 25 years of service and also served as Vice President of the Detroit Typographical Union. He enjoyed writing and was a published author. Don served our country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Air Force. He was a Christian and enjoyed helping others whenever he could, earning the nickname “Good Sam”. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 7122 and past president of the Tarawood Home Owners Association.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Carolyn Cooper Lewis; and children, Richard Lewis (Vicki) of Frankenmuth, MI; Colleen Zuber (Bob) of Mt. Clemens, MI; Kevin McNally (Pam) of Riley Township, MI; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by Scott McNally of West Palm Beach,FL

There will be a viewing on Wednesday, Nov. 15th at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home from 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM. Graveside services will Military Honors will follow at 2:30 PM from the Florida National Cemetery with V.F.W. Post 7122 in charge. A reception will follow at the Tarawood Club House in Floral City.
