Donald Alvin Diamond, age 78, of Floral City, FL, passed away Monday, September 18, 2017 while under the care of Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, Lecanto. Donald was born on March 17, 1939 in Plant City, FL, to the late Karlton B. and Frances Alice Ellis (Hughes) Diamond. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a Supervisor for Eastern Oil of Tampa, FL. On February 12, 1971, Donald married Betty (DeMontmollin) with whom he shared 46 years of marriage. They made Citrus County their home in 1971 when they relocated from Plant City, FL. According to his family, Donald enjoyed being the “Supervisor” of the family. He also loved the mountains and enjoyed many trips to Tennessee, Georgia and North Carolina over the years. In his youth, Donald had enjoyed water skiing and scuba diving.
In addition to his loving wife Betty, those left to mourn Donald’s passing include sons: Alan Diamond of Floral City, FL, Tony Diamond and his wife Cindy of Floral City, FL, Richard L. Diamond of Hernando, FL; sisters: Kathleen Westgate and her husband Charles of Jacksonville, FL, June A. Parker of Cleveland, TN; step brothers: Jeff Hughes and his wife Carol of Plant City, FL, Dewey Hughes and his wife Suzanne of Indiana; grandchildren: Crystal, Jennifer, Alicia, Jacob, Paige; and several great grandchildren. Donald was preceded in death by son, Dennis Keith Diamond and daughter in law, C J Lee-Diamond.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is planned for Friday, September 22, 2017 at 11:00 AM from the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Ballard of Calvary Chapel of Inverness officiating. The family will receive friends in visitation beginning at 10:00 AM until the hour of service. Donald’s urn will be laid to rest at Hills of Rest Cemetery, Floral City, FL, at a later date. Service arrangements and cremation care are under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
