Grace V Swartz

Grace Vivian Swartz, age 93, of Lecanto, FL, passed away Monday, September 4, 2017 while under the care of Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, Lecanto. Grace was born on November 12, 1923 in Plymouth, PA to the late William D. and Carrie Mae (Smith) Howell. She was married to Donald Swartz until his passing in 1999.

In 1997, Grace and Donald made Citrus County their home after relocating from Brandon, FL. A Baptist by faith, she attended services at Trinity Baptist Church in Hernando, FL. In her spare time she enjoyed shopping at thrift stores and garage sales. Grace enjoyed playing games, especially Rummikub. A gifted musician, she played piano and organ at the churches for whom her husband Donald was pastor, for the churches she attended and local nursing homes. She enjoyed traveling and was fortunate enough to visit the Holy Land in the 1970’s. Grace was a wonderful mother that was completely dedicated to her family who deemed her “Amazing Grace”. She also had a great love of animals, especially her cats Lucy and Shadow.

Those left to mourn Grace’s passing are her sons: James Swartz (Cathy) of Lecanto, FL, Paul Swartz (Charlene) of Hernando, FL; daughters: Bonnie Sharp (Robert) of Charleston, S.C., Martha “Marty” Wroughton of Garner, N.C., Carolyn Candiler of Beverly Hills, FL; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband Donald, Grace was preceded in death by her sisters: Louise Muchler and Dorothy Howell.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 3:00 PM from the Trinity Baptist Church, Hernando, FL. Private inurnment at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens, Brandon, FL. Cremation care is under the direction of the Chas E Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
