Dale Eugene Smith, age 76, of Inverness, FL passed away Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Citrus Memorial Hospital, Inverness. Dale was born on October 2, 1940 in Hanover, OH to the late Charles Edwin and Agnes Mae (Ashcraft) Smith. On June 3, 1960 he married Ruth “Elaine” (Gray) with whom he shared 57 years of marriage. Dale worked throughout his life as a Heavy Equipment Operator for the Plumbing Industry. He and Elaine became “Snow Birds” 13 years ago but eventually made Citrus County Florida their permanent home 7 years ago and attended worship services at the Bushnell Presbyterian Church, Bushnell, FL. Dale was a sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the Little League World Series and the Softball World Series. He also enjoyed going to Country Music Jams. His incredible hugs will be missed by all his friends and family.
In addition to his loving wife Elaine, those that will mourn Dale’s passing include his daughters: Lissa Bennett and her husband Bill and Peggy Dillon, both of Newark, OH; brother, Carl Dean Smith of Newark, OH; sister, Dorothy Martin of Newark, OH; grandchildren: Jesse, Ginger, Nina and Ryan; and great grandchildren: Ryan, Braden, Makala, James, Makena and Emmett. Private cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
