Robert Paul “Bob” Clay, 86, of Inverness, FL passed away March 22, 2017 at Promise Hospital of Florida at the Villages, in Oxford, FL. He was born in Rochester, IN on April 9, 1930 to the late Raymond and Gertrude (Burkey) Clay.

Bob was a Masonry Superintendent in the construction industry, and a U.S. Air Force veteran during the Korean War. He arrived in this area in 1988 after previously living for 20 years in Largo, FL.

He was a Methodist by faith, and was a life member of the VFW Post #1728 in Winamac, IN. Bob came from a musical family, and was an accomplished musician, keyboardist, and drummer. He was a great dancer, and loved fishing.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Beverly Clay of Inverness. Other survivors include his children, Christine Fleming and her husband Gordon of Sharpsburg, GA, Jeffrey Clay and his wife Theresa of Inverness,and Brenda Griswold and her husband Phillip of Largo, FL.; brother James Clay; 3 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Bob will be held at the Point O’Woods Country Club, 9228 E. Gospel Island Road, Inverness, on Saturday, April 8, from 1:00-3:00 P.M..

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staffs of Promise Hospital of Florida at the Villages and Ocala Regional Medical Center for the heartfelt care they gave to Bob. The family requests donations in Bob’s memory be made to: The Alzheimer’s Association, Florida Gulf Coast Chapter, 14010 Roosevelt Blvd., #709, Clearwater, FL 33762.

Private cremation arrangements are under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness.
