Edward Shippen Thompson, Jr., age 68, of Floral City, FL passed away at his residence on February 28, 2017. Edward was born on November 14, 1948 in Danville, PA to the late Emma (Mead) and Edward S. Thompson, Sr. He was a graduate of the Valley Forge Military Academy and went on to proudly serve his country as a member of the United State Air Force. Edward went on to own and operate his own lawn care company and made Citrus County Florida his home in 1999 after he relocated from Naples, FL. He had a strong Christian faith and was known for his extremely big generous heart. Edward never met a stranger and would always go out of his way and do what he could to help others in need. He also loved animals and had raised 3 wolves. In his spare time, Edward loved to ride motorcycles.
Those left to mourn Edward’s passing are his dear friend and brother, “Tramp” and his wife Deb of Anna, IL; Life long brother “Lefty” of Arizona; his friend of 14 years, Gary McCammon and his wife Julie of Floral City, FL; and Joe Sweet of Floral City, FL.
Edward’s friends plan to honor his life and memory at Florida National Cemetery on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 10:30 AM where full military honors will be rendered. The Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
