Arlene P. “Pat” Gorham, age 86, of Inverness, FL passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2017. Pat was born on December 11, 1930 in New York, N.Y. to the late Henry and Adelaide (Kane) Schwaninger. She married Eugene P. Gorham on September 15, 1951 with whom she shared 38 years of loving marriage until his passing on January 28, 1990.
Pat and Eugene made Citrus County their home in 1974 after relocating from Brentwood, Long Island, NY. A Christian by faith, she attended worship services at the First Assembly of God, Inverness, FL. Pat worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for Citrus Memorial Hospital for over 10 years. She went on to work for Hospice of Citrus County as a Bereavement Counselor, a job she truly loved. Pat always put the needs of others before herself and went out of her way to help people. In her spare time she enjoyed reading and crocheting.
Those left to mourn Pat’s passing and cherish her memory are her son, Corey Gorham and his wife Jill of Inverness, FL; daughter, Eugena “Gena” Barnhill and her husband Henry Press of Lynchburg, VA; sister, Adelaide Georgianna of Gainesville, FL; grandchildren: Brent, Kristen, Malinda, Elmer, Scott, Patrick; great grandchildren: Adelynn, Emilynn, Presten, Karlynn, Jeslynn, Lily, Willow, Autumn; daughter in law, Brenda Gorham; niece, Dawn; and nephew, Craig. In addition to her loving husband, Pat was preceded in death by son, Kerry Gorham on October 2, 2013.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is planned for Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 11:00 AM from the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness with Pastor Dairold Rushing of the First Assembly of God, Inverness officiating. The family will receive friends in visitation beginning at 10:00 AM until the hour of service. Pat’s urn will be laid to rest with her husband at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Pat’s memory to the First Assembly of God, P.O. Box 578, Inverness, FL 34451. Arrangements are under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
