Carolyn L. Riede, age 85, of Homosassa, FL passed away January 31, 2017 at Citrus Memorial Hospital, Inverness. Carolyn was born on June 13, 1931 in Morton, MS. to the late A.P. and Jessie Jewel (Noblin) Lindsey. She began her working career as a Bank Teller and eventually worked her way up to become a Vice President for Unifirst Bank Savings and Loan.

On May 26, 1961, Carolyn married the love of her life, Johann “John” Riede, with whom she shared 55 years of loving marriage. She and John truly enjoyed spending time together and they traveled throughout the United States and Canada for over 7 years in their R. V. They even worked as Ambassadors and Park Representatives for the Alaska State Parks and the Pensacola and Everglades National Parks in Florida. They made Citrus County their home 14 years ago when they finally decided to park their R.V. for good. Carolyn was a Baptist by faith and attended worship services at Faith Baptist Church in Homosassa, FL.

Prior to putting down roots in Florida, Carolyn and John lived in the Jackson, MS area. While living there they were members of a Square Dancing Club that had appeared on local television broadcasts. After their move to Florida, they became active in the German Club of Citrus County and greatly enjoyed attending their annual Christmas and Octoberfest dances. Carolyn was a social butterfly at heart and loved entertaining family and friends. She also enjoyed the outdoors, going to the beach and growing flowers and pineapples in her garden.

In addition to her loving husband John, those left to mourn Carolyn’s passing are her children: Erich Johann Riede and his wife Amanda of Florence, MS, Kathy Atchison and her husband Billy of Lithia, FL; 5 grandchildren: Drew, Jordan, Jessie, Weston, Colton; and 2 great-grandchildren: Harper and Lorelei. In addition to her parent’s, Carolyn was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Lindsey.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is planned for Sat, February 4, 2017 at 11:00 AM from the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness with Reverend Greg Kell of Cornerstone Baptist Church officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 AM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Carolyn’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Arrangements are under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
