Emile Johan Wigeri van Edema, Lt. Colonel, U.S. Army (Ret.) age 76 of Homosassa, FL passed away at his residence on January 30, 2017. Emile was born on March 26, 1940 in Dobo, Indonesia to the late Johan A. and Juliana (Van den Broeke) Wigeri van Edema. He was a 30 year veteran of the US Army. In 1981 Emile married Marilyn Dewey, with whom he shared 32 years of marriage until her passing on April 16, 2013. In his spare time he enjoyed traveling, gardening, playing his harmonica and flying kites.

Left to cherish his memory is his son, Greg (Diana) Wigeri van Edema of Bradenton, FL; brothers: Ronald (Jennifer) Wigeri van Edema of Coral Springs, FL and Charles (Donna) Wigeri van Edema of Green Cove Springs, FL; his sisters: Caroline (Gerry) Denbroski of Boston, MA; Jane (Chris) Bouhuis of Port St. Lucie, FL; Evelyn Gonzalez of Port St. Lucie, FL and Rosa (John) Pariury of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and his granddaughters: Elizabeth and Victoria. In addition to his wife, Marilyn who passed away April 16, 2013, he was also preceded in death by his daughter Susan Wigeri van Edema in December 2015, and his brother, Errol Wigeri van Edema.

Lt. Col. Wigeri van Edema’s urn will be interred at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness.
