Madge L. Benson

Madge L. Benson, 89, Floral City, formerly of Inverness, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2017 in Citrus Memorial Hospital. Madge was born in Goshen, VA on March 19, 1927, the daughter of the late Ernest and Nora (Smith) Ratliff, and moved to Inverness with her late husband, Ormie Benson, in 1986 from Battle Creek, MI. They were married for 55 years. He passed away August 12, 2016.

She retired from the Kellogg Company in the quality control division with 32 years of service. Following retirement, she volunteered her time and talent as a seamstress to the Doris Claussen Center in Battle Creek. After moving to Inverness, she was a faithful member of Calvary Chapel, formerly Main Street Baptist Church. She and her husband, Ormie, started the Calvary Food Pantry program for the church.

Left to mourn and cherish her memory is a daughter, Constance Sanders of Floral City, FL; a son, Stephen Ratliff, Battle Creek, MI; 1 sister, Margie Joslyn, Battle Creek, MI; 4 grandchildren: Anngil Culp, Nigel Penney, Mark Ratliff, and Tyria Adams; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by 2 great grandsons, Cody Eric Culp and Christopher Adams.

Madge will be remembered at a Celebration of Life Service on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 4:00 PM from the Chas E Davis Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Ballard and Dr. Leary Willis, Jr officiating. The family will greet friends from 3:00 PM until the hour of service. Graveside services will follow Monday, February 6th at 10:00 AM at Oak Hill Cemetery, Battle Creek, MI
