Garey Randolph Elrod, age 72, of Lake Panasoffkee, FL passed away at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness on January 29, 2017. Garey was born on October 5, 1944 in Lepanto, AR to the late Leland and Elsie Mae (Wadley) Elrod. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army and was extremely proud of his military service. A Christian by faith, he attended worship services at the Sumterville Assembly of God and was a great supporter of their youth ministry. Garey greatly enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his partner of 17 years, Clara Elrod.
In addition to Clara, those left to mourn Garey’s passing are his son, Dana Elrod; daughters: Ashley Elrod and Tonya Elrod; brothers: Perry Maynard and Winston Elrod; sisters: Roseanne Healan and Rosetta Lanczyski; and several grandchildren. In addition to his parent’s, Garey was preceded in death by brother, Marvin Elrod and sister, Joyce Ann Elrod.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 11:00 AM from the Sumterville Assembly of God, Sumterville, FL. The service will be conducted by youth minister, Rachel Caruso. Garey will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
