William P. Sheehy, 91 of Lecanto, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2016 at Brookdale Citrus. William was born in Manhattan, New York on October 6, 1925 to the late John and Catherine (Falon) Sheehy and came to Citrus County over two years ago from Atlantic Beach, NY.
William retired as a manager with Firestone Tires. He was a US Navy Veteran, a member of the American Legion Long Beach Post #972 and the Naval Arm Guard Post of Farmingdale, Long Island. He loved to play softball, watch boxing on television and enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle. William also like to fish.
Left to cherish his memory is his son, William P. (Kathleen) Sheehy of Setauket, NY; his daughter in law, Susan Sheehy of Lecanto, FL; and 5 grandchildren: Laura, Debra, Matthew, Patricia and John Sheehy. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert in 2011.
Funeral services for William will be held in Oceanside, NY under the direction of the Vanella’s Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, NY. Local arrangements are under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
