Jeremiah F. “Jerry” Hartnett, 84, of Lecanto, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at the Health Center at Brentwood in Lecanto. Jerry was born on December 9, 1932 in Mineola, New York to the late Francis J. and Laurette (Lowe) Hartnett. He was Catholic by faith.

Jerry was a graduate of Hofstra University and was an accomplished puppeteer, who traveled the world entertaining people. He had appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show and performed with “Bozo” the Clown. Jerry hand made his puppets and his family plans to donate most of them to a puppet museum.

Left to cherish his memory are his nieces: Patricia Trapanese, Laura Pridham and Nancy Dubrowsky and his sister-in-law, Evelyn Hartnett. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas K. Hartnett in 2010.

Following cremation, Jerry’s urn will be interred at the Cemetery of the Holy Rood in Westbury, New York. Arrangements are under the direction of the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness.
