J.D. Stoner, 85, of Dunnellon, FL passed away January 6, 2017 at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness, FL. He was born in Chattanooga, TN on September 30, 1931 to the late Joseph and Florrie ( Harris) Stoner.
J.D. was a janitor at Citrus High School, and a U.S. Air Force veteran.
He arrived in this area in 1978, coming from Henager, AL. In his younger years, JD enjoyed fishing and boating. Later in life, he liked watching NASCAR, football, FOX news, and going to the Citrus County Speedway to watch his son and grandson race.
JD was preceded in death by his wife Esther Marie Stoner in 1992. Survivors include his children Ernest Stoner of Dunnellon, Fred Stoner and his wife Lisa of Hernando, FL, Curtis R. Stoner and his wife Lori of Texas, and April Connolly and her husband Gary of Bushnell, FL, Steve Stoner and Cheryl Stoner of Texas; 5 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, 11:00 A.M at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness with Pastor Rickey Taylor of the First Baptist Church of Bushnell, officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home 1 hour prior to the service. J.D. and Esther’s urns will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation be made to Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, PO Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464.
