Richard D. Windle, age 75, of Citrus Springs, FL passed away December 9, 2016 at Arbor Trail Rehab and Nursing, Inverness. Richard was born on April 6, 1941 in Philadelphia, PA to the late George Stuart and Edna Mae (Davis) Windle. He proudly served his country as a member of the Naval Air Reserves. After his military service, Richard went on to become a Sales Manager for the largest Dental Equipment Manufacturer in the world. On June 15, 1963 he married Mary Ann Nonemaker with whom he shared 53 wonderful years of marriage. Richard and Mary Ann made Citrus County their home 12 years ago after relocating from McMinnville, OR. A Christian by faith, he attended worship services at the Nazarene Church, Hernando, FL.
Richard was very civic minded and volunteered a great deal of times to causes that were near and dear to his heart. He was Chairman of the Republican Executive Committee in Crystal River, FL for 2 years, a former Board Member for the Church of the Nazarene, Hernando, FL as well as a member of MSBU Citrus Springs, FL. While living in McMinnville, OR, he was the City Commissioner for several years and a member of the Lion’s Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, golfing and boating. Richard also enjoyed traveling and had the opportunity to visit Australia and travel Europe extensively by train.
In addition to his loving wife Mary Ann, those left to mourn his passing include his daughter, Beth Cromwell and her husband David of Seattle, WA; sister, Margaret Worner and her husband Ray of Trevose, PA; and his grandchildren: Montana and Shann Cromwell whom Richard was extremely proud of. In addition to his parent’s, Richard was preceded in death by his brother, George Windle. Private arrangements are under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, FL.
