Cecil Nibling, age 94, of Floral City, FL died October 18, 2016 while under the care of Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, Lecanto. Cecil was born on October 12, 1922 in Akron, OH to the late John and Flossie (Skiles) Nibling. Cecil proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army and was a Veteran of World War II. After his military service, he was employed as a Coordinator for Goodyear Aerospace for almost 40 years. On January 3, 1946 Cecil married the love of his life, Alma Udell, with whom he shared 70 years of marriage. He and Alma made Citrus County their home 26 years ago after relocating from Akron, OH. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post #3383 in Akron, OH and also a member of American Legion Post #225, Floral City, FL. In his leisure time, Cecil enjoyed watching sports on television, especially golf. He had played many sports throughout his life including softball, golf, pool and bowling. Cecil also enjoyed “puttering around” and spent much of his time outside doing yardwork.
In addition to his loving wife Alma, those left to mourn his passing are his son, John Nibling of McComb, MS; daughters: Carolyn Pennell and her husband Darrell of The Woodlands, TX and Sandra Meyers and her husband David of Akron, OH; sister, Earlene Harris of Akron, OH; grandchildren: Scott Meyers, Brian Meyers and Jennifer Pennell; and great grandchild, Jennifer Meyers. In addition to his parent’s, Cecil was preceded in death by his son, Bruce Nibling and brother, Kenneth Nibling.
Cecil’s urn will be laid to rest at the Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery in Richfield, OH at a later date. Private cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
