Ralph Valentine Nolan, age 85, of Floral City, FL died at his residence with his loving wife, Joanne Nolan, by his side on September 26, 2016. Ralph was born on February 14, 1931 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late John Francis and Anna Cecelia (Hilbert) Nolan.

Ralph proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army and was a Veteran of World War II. After his military service, he was a streetcar and bus driver in Pittsburgh, PA. He moved to Florida in 1973 where he was a resident of Dade City, Florida where he worked several jobs before retiring to Citrus County in 2001.

Ralph enjoyed the outdoors, taking his family boating, crabbing, fishing and camping. Together, they enjoyed the Springs, feeding and swimming with the manatees and in general, enjoyed being with his family. He was a John Wayne fan, enjoyed watching his as well as all other western movies. Ralph liked working with his hands, was a big animal lover and a Bucs fan. He loved his family, never forgot about his children and did whatever he could for them. He was a long time member and one of the Founders of the Dade City Moose Lodge #373.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 43 years, Joanne; his children: Ralph “Little Rocky” and Wife Arlene Nolan, Mark and Wife Doreen Nolan and Gary and Wife Colleen Nolan of Pennsylvania; daughter, Trish and Husband Gavin Coleman of Florida, David and Wife Lynn Chivers of Florida, Cindy Chivers, Floral City, FL, Linda Haynes of Little Rock, Arkansas, Cathy and Husband William Lennartz of Arkansas; his brother, William “Bill” and Wife Claire Nolan, Sister Nancy Welch both of Pennsylvania and 19 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great Grandchildren. He was prededed in death by 4 other brothers and one step-son, Douglas Charles Chivers (twin to David Chivers).

A service to celebrate Ralph’s life will be held on Saturday, October 8th at 1:00 PM from the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, with Fr. Claudius Mganga of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church officiating. In recognition of his military service, military honors will be rendered by Inverness VFW Post #4337 Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until service time.
