Alberto “Al” Verderame, 90, Inverness passed away Tuesday, Sept 20, 2016 in the Hernando-Pasco Hospice facility in Lecanto. Mr Verderame was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 5, 1926 to the late Onofrio and Angelica (Bonacasa) Verderame and came to this area in 1976 from Smithtown, NY. He was the founder and former owner of Al’s Italian Restaurant in Inverness and a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. He also was very active in the East Citrus Community Center.
He is survived by his son, Cataldo “Aldo” Verderame and his wife Linda, Inverness; 1 sister, Rosa Verderame of Italy; 2 grandchildren, Joshua and his wife, Jennifer and Justin and his wife, Amanda; 5 great-grandchildren, Junior, Hannah, Lane, Annabella, and Haylee. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Antonina on March 16, 2011; his son, Norino, in Aug 5, 1998, and his 3 brothers, Cataldo, Baldassare, and Nino.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Sept 24 at 1:00 PM from the Chas E Davis Funeral Home with Fr. Tim Cummings officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 11:00 AM until the hour of service.
A special “thank you” to Dr. Joshua Summers for all his efforts and care he provided through the years Also, a special “thank you” to Dr. Winston Evalee of The Villages for his heroic efforts and care during Dad’s final months.
