Mary Chrystine Chappell, 96, of Hernando, FL passed away on Monday, August 1, 2016 at her home. She was born on August 22, 1919 in Hanover, Virginia to the late Golie R. Carter and Mary L. Durett Carter. Chrystine and her husband, Carl, came to Hernando from Arlington, Virginia in 1946. She worked for the S.S. Kresge Dime Store Company and later owned and operated the Paradise Fishing Cottages for many years.
She was past president of the W.S.C.S. and attended the First Presbyterian Church in Inverness. She was a sunday school teacher, choir member, and circle leader. Chrystine was also a school room mother, past president of the Hernando Homemakers, a 4H leader, past president of the Inverness Womans Club, serving in 1980-82 and 1986-88. She also was a member of the Womans Club Singing Ladies, she worked with Meals on Wheels, and was a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy.
Left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory are her children, L. Carlton Chappell Jr. and his wife Ginger, Tallahassee, FL , Brad E. Chappell and his wife, Vim, Hernando, FL and Joy Chappell Wilson, Hernando, FL; her grandchildren: Cathy (Tom) Dierking, Scott Chappell, Janet (Martin) Shipman, Lee Wilson, Kari (Dr. Mark) Sylvester, Brian (Barbara) Chappell ,and Philip Saraneeyavongse; great grandchildren, Christopher, Rachel, Martin Jr, Grace, Carter S., Logan, Jessie, Carter C., Lindsey, Brooke, Summer and Ember. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, L. Carlton Chappell in 1995 and her son, Robert Chappell in 2014.
Funeral Services for Chrystine will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at 2:00 PM from the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Ron Pfeifer, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Inverness officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends in visitation at the funeral home from 12 Noon until service time.
