Gloria Roesel, age 88, of Lecanto, FL died July 19, 2016 at Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, Lecanto. Gloria was born on June 5, 1928 in Massapequa, NY to the late Francis and Hazel (Chevalier) Evento.
On April 3, 1971 she married John Roesel with whom she shared 40 years of marriage until his passing on July 5, 2011. Gloria was formerly employed in the clerical department for New York Telephone. In 1983, she made Citrus County her home after moving from Bayshore, NY.
A Catholic by faith, she attended services at St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Lecanto, FL for a number of years. Gloria was also a member of the Inverness Moose Lodge #2112 / WOTM Chapter 1773. In her spare time she greatly enjoyed playing bingo, taking cruises, knitting and crocheting. Gloria also enjoyed going to craft shows and attending ice skating shows. She will be remembered as a very happy go lucky lady who was very loving, generous and kind.
Those left to mourn her passing and cherish her memory are her godson: Arthur Wile and his wife Susan of Citrus Springs, FL; special family members: Michele Kenney and her husband Rick of Homosassa, FL, Maureen Trupia of Long Island, NY, Bernice Scott and her husband Steve of the Cayman Islands and Gail Booth of Phoenix, AZ. Other beloved family members include: Justin Lofaro, Jessica Elsen, Stephen Lofaro, Travis Scott, Katie Scott, Stephen Tujia, Tricia Greene, Brandon Trupia and Colin Trupia.
A Funeral Service of Remembrance will be offered on Tuesday, July 26 at 10:00 a.m. from the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness with Deacon Robert Smith of St. Scholastica Catholic Church officiating. The family will receive friends in visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Internment to follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. Arrangements are under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness.
