Joseph (Jim) James Standlick, 85, of Homosassa, formerly of Brighton, Michigan, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 27th, 2016 at his home, after a courageous battle with cancer. Jim was born January 9, 1931, in Detroit, Michigan. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, and owned Superior Coffee Company in Detroit, Michigan. His favorite things to do were golf and spend time with his many friends. He was a proud member of the VFW and Elk’s Club. Anyone who knew him could appreciate his sense of humor and joy for life. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Janice Standlick and step-son Thomas Savich. He is survived by his daughter Lisa Fishel (Dr. Robert Fishel); step-daughter Paulette Galop (Mr. Stacey Galop ); four grandchildren, Alex and Sarah Fishel and JJ (Rilee) and Shaun McNally; great grandchildren Mason and Sawyer McNally; one brother, Ronald Standlick and sister-in-law Carol, of Washington TWP, Michigan; one aunt, Ruth Brandt of Ocala, Florida; cousins, Edward, Nina and Nicholas Standlick of Richmond, Virginia and Judy Standlick of Brighton, Michigan; and multiple nieces and nephews, loyal neighbors, friends and dog, Gigi. The family is extremely grateful for the care and friendship shown by Pat and John Aggas, and Bill Obermeier. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast. The family will welcome friends for a memorial service being held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at the home of Jim Standlick, 13 Cypress Blvd. East, Homosassa. After the memorial service there will be food and refreshments to celebrate Jim Standlick’s life. Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory assisted the family.
