James Harold Barnes, Sr., age 66 of Inverness passed away at home on June 6, 2016. Jim was born in Leesburg, FL to the late Glenn and Audrey (Seay) Barnes on Dec 18, 1949 and came to Inverness in 1969 from Webster, FL. He was a Maintenance Supervisor for the Key Training Center for 20 years and was of the Protestant Faith. He enjoyed drag racing, working on cars, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Left to mourn his loss are his wife of 47 years, Lena Whitton Barnes; 2 children, James H. Barnes Jr. of Crystal River and Cynthia Barnes of Inverness; 4 brothers, Bruce, Curtis, and Marvin Barnes, all of Webster; Gary Barnes of Bushnell, FL; 1 sister, Ann Harris of Webster, FL; 3 grandchildren, Savannah and Audrey Barnes and Briana Hoover.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, June 11th at 2:00 PM from the Chas E Davis Funeral Home & Crematory with Mr. Lucky Whitton officiating. Cremation arrangements will follow. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 PM until the hour of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are being accepted by either of the Hospice organizations in Citrus County or the Key Training Center.
